The rules

These are the things you can report, and they are the things that get acted on. Nothing here is a matter of taste: you are not going to be suspended for being annoying.

Selling or arranging drugs, alcohol, vapes or weapons is not allowed anywhere in the app, and that includes moving the conversation somewhere else. A listing that exists to hand over a username on another app is the same listing.

This one is different from everything else on this page, so it is worth being plain about it.

A nude or sexual photo of anyone under 18 is not a moderation problem, it is a serious crime — including when the person in it sent it themselves, including when you are the person in it, and including when it is forwarded rather than taken. Reporting one hides it immediately, closes the account it came from, and sends it for urgent review. It is not deleted, because it may be evidence.

If somebody is threatening to share a picture of you, please tell an adult you trust. You can also contact Childline India on 1098, free, any time. Reporting it here does not stop you doing that, and it is not a substitute for it.

Report it — it goes to the top of the queue. But please do not only report it. Nobody here is on call, and a report is not a person. Tele-MANAS is 14416, free, any time, in most Indian languages.

1. The person you reported is never told who reported them. That is true for every kind of report, and it does not change.
2. If several different people report the same thing, it is hidden while it is being looked at. That is not a decision — it can be put back.
3. A person reads it and decides: leave it, take it down, warn the account, or suspend it.
4. You are told what was decided. Not who decided it. Filing a report and hearing nothing is how people work out that the button is fake, so this app tells you.

Reporting things that are fine, to try to get somebody taken down, is itself against the rules. It is visible from this side.

A warning changes nothing except that you are told. A suspension locks you out for a set number of days and then ends on its own. Both say what they were for.

There is no appeal from inside the app. That is not a good thing and it is not hidden from you — it is what one moderator and no rota actually amounts to.

• Nothing you post to the feed, a chat or a story is checked by a computer first. Listings and events are the exception: they are scanned for words that look like selling something that is not allowed. That never refuses your post — it can only hold it back until a person has looked at it.
• Nobody reads your messages. Reports are the only way anything is looked at.
• A business account is not verified by anybody. The badge means somebody said they run a shop, and nothing more.
• Nobody is on call. Reports are read when a moderator opens them, and there is no promised time.
• Stories disappear after a day. If you report one, we keep a copy of what was reported so it can still be looked at — otherwise there would be nothing left to judge.
